"The United Methodist Women's group is an advocate for the oppressed and dispossessed with special attention to the needs of women and children; who shall work to build a supportive community among women; and shall engage in activities which foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement throughout the organization."

The UMW of Simpson, is involved in local and world missions by way of financial support and item collections as requested by needy organizations. Our UMW supports our local church in all fund raising events. We hold our meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, September through June.

Notes from the President:
The United Methodist Women will begin the new year with our meeting on January 8th at 7:30 pm. We had a wonderful Christmas gathering on December 11th with seventeen women attending. Our highlight of the evening was a visit from Harriet Mitchell and her granddaughter Jeanette. The UMW presented a monetary gift to Jeanette in support of her mission to attend the 2008 pilgrimage to Taize France.

Our yearly Christmas gift of $10 donated by each member was collected for "Women Aware". This is sent in the form of Church Gift Cards for women who have left the shelter and trying to make it on their own with their children.

A letter has been received from our little adopted daughter, Claudia, and she would like us to all come over and visit her. Her mother is 22 years old and her father is 24. She has a little brother 2 1/2 years old. We gathered some small items to send her and hope she enjoys receiving something from us, hopefully for Christmas.

We will continue the year with the same officers and ask Our Lord Jesus to guide us as we strive to do the UMW purpose and be a hand of Christ in our church.
